The Beginning of Year Two

Image
Since I have been seriously slacking on the updating of this blog I figured I should attempt at making a come back. I went home in February for 2 weeks.  It was amazing to be home and to see everyone again. I sure was busy for those two weeks making sure I saw as many people as I could but still make sure I spent a ton of time with my mom, my brother, my aunts and Uncles, and of course the little cousins.  I did had a dinner with each of my aunts separately to make sure we had time just one on one.  Seeing all my cousins was great too.  They are all so cute and I just love spending time with them.  It's hard for them because they know that I am gone but don't understand really how far I am from home.  It was amazing to see all my friends and my family of course, but I also loved seeing my cat and dog.  I sometimes see B when i skype with my mom and he does know my voice, but I was amazed to see that how much he remembered me.  As soon ...

Gettin' Comfortable

Things are really starting to come together here in Korea and I am starting to feel a lot more comfortable here.  I think I might actually survive it here!  Although I still do not speak the language...which makes things very difficult, I do know that I will not starve here.  All in the past week Beth and I have had some huge success stories!  We have managed to get a train to Daegu, go shopping in Daegu, order our food in Deagu, and catch the train back to Sangju....all without any help from a Korean speaking person!  We have found a new bibimbap place this week, and it's super cute and delicious!  We even managed to order our food (no English menu or pictures!!!) and we had to write what we wanted and got it right!  We have even found a new mountain this week to start hiking.  It's been a pretty successful couple of days for us and it makes me very excited!   We are trying to decide if we want to train for a half marathon in September...

Daegu Got the Best of Me!

I managed to survive my first week with lessons!  My first day started pretty rough like I mentioned, but the week got so much better as it went on.  It probably helped that I did not have school on Friday.  It was the schools birthday, yes they don't have school because it's a holiday.  The schools in the states should really celebrate the schools birthday as well! To celebrate the survival of our first week of school a bunch of us Waygooks (foreigners) went to Daegu.  We had been planning it all week, for all of us from the Gyeongbuk orientation to get together.  I got to see so many people, I think our orientation took over Daegu! I went over with Darren, Mark, and Beth; we were planning to get to hang out with other people since we see each other almost everyday.  However, we pretty much stuck with each other the entire night.  We got to Daegu pretty early and did a lot of wandering around (mostly because we didn't have our Korean speaking...
